Crispy Cod Filets

Cod is a classic white fish that can be prepared in a variety of ways. This recipe utilizes basic ingredients to create a crispy fried outer layer that will certainly spice up your cod fish.

Cod fish is great for cooking because it’s very versatile. There are many different ingredients that can be added to it in order to produce different flavors. The basic flavor of cod is neutral meaning there is a lot of room to try different ingredients until your palette is satisfied.

Ingredients (for a party of 2):

1/4 cup of parsley

1/4 cup of white onions

3 tbsp of garlic

1 tsp of red pepper flakes

1 tbsp of butter

3 tbsp of lemon juice

2-3 cups of vegetable oil

1 cup of flour

2-3 eggs

Salt and pepper to taste

Start by cracking your eggs in a bowl and whisk until mixed. On a separate plate, spread your flour evenly.

Take a medium sized pot and fill with vegetable oil. Put on medium heat.

Take your cod filets and season with salt and pepper. Then, dip into eggs and cover completely and then dip in flour. Shake off excess flour.

Put into pot and let them fry for about 5 minutes.

In a medium sized pan, spread olive oil and melt butter. Add onions and cook until golden brown, then add parsley, hot pepper flakes, and garlic.

After 5 minutes, add your cod. Spread the contents of the pan onto the cod filet evenly and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Flip on each side so that the ingredients soak into the filet. Squeeze the lemon juice onto your filets as you flip.

Remove from heat and serve warm.
